so i ordered the accel points conversion for my 65 f100, and it comes in the mail, with the super stock coil i ordered. first problem: the kit was missing two mounting screws. second problem: you need a distributor wiring harness to connect into. immediately i thought " hey they sent me the wrong conversion kit. no car in 65 had a wiring harness like this." so i called the company (o'reilly auto parts) that i ordered it from and they assured me that this was the kit i needed for my truck.
has anyone else used the same points conversion kit on their 352-427 engine with oem style distributor? and if so did you have to splice wires and " jerry-rig it" so to speak?
or am i just an idiot and i should have got a billet mallory distributor?
well you know i didn't want to waste anymore time or money. so i soldered and heat shrinked the wires in proper order. my only problem being i absent mindedly forgot to retighten the distributor hold down and when i went to turn it over flames shot out of the carb after i started her up. so i did two full rotations of the crank and it lined up tdc and could adjust from there. it runs great. throttle response is excellent.
