So i ordered a 3" down pipe for my 97 it got here but i think they sent me two cause it's the exact same pipes just twice two seaparte boxes. anyhow and thursday i have my 6637 coming now to make time to put this stuff on. next is guages and then chip.
If they didn't charge you twice then you could be nice and send it back or keep it and sell it. That's two good mods to start with next you need to lose your cat and get rid of the muffler
oh thats what this dp does makes it 3" all the way down and gets rid of the cat. I have to call Clay an see what i need to do. it's the mbrp dp kit from his site.
The down pipe back type system mounts to the short stock down pipe in Powerstroke equipped vehicles and eliminates the catalytic converter. The objective is to provide the absolute lowest exhaust gas temperatures, maximum exhaust flow, torque and horsepower possible. The ideal configuration for off road applications.
So it has me a little confused too, if this is what you ordered.
That's the one I have and it goes to about the same spot a the stock DP but doesn't have the flang that bolts to the cat
Yeah, that's what had me confused, from seeing the picture without the flange I thought it looked way to short to go into the junction behind the cat. I guess you are supposed to buy a chunk of straight pipe to join behind the cat somewhere??
If you received two separate boxes, they might have sent a duplicate dp by mistake. Give 'em a call to verify. Make sure you ask for the cat-delete, or to be "legal", ask for the "test pipe" so you can run an open exhaust when you're racing.
So it's just cut the old one out an put in the new an cut the cat off an connect? I'm not much on exhausts my 91 had a peiced Together setup so nothing was normal.
Hang on to both until you have 1 installed, there's been more than a few that were made wrong. Mine worked fine but the only catch with mine was a poor union of the collar and upper dp. There was a lip at the bottom that stuck up about a 1/4" just enough to impede flow imo. I just hammered it down with a ball peen.
