Sure you can but the stock muffler is a good flow thru muffler and all you will change is sound. Better mod would be round down pipe and do something with the cat
This is my first Diesel so im learnin as i go. What can i do wit the cat? Theres a mod i can do wit with the cat?? It has stock 3" and i want to go wit 4" will i have to change the cat or can i upsize after the cat??
get the down pipe. and replace everything from the new pipe back with 4 inch pipe. completely different sounding. then get the 6637 mod. then will decide the best way to spend you money past there. haha

Get a new down pipe for sure. It's the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. Be sure to check with your states emission laws before you remove the cat. Some states require it to be in place but....they don't have any means to check inside of it . If the guts of the cat were to....cough, cough, fall out of it and then mysteriously a 3" pipe were welded through the cat, from the opening to the exit, well.....
There is no requirements for a muffler unless you don't like the nice low rumble and whistling turbo coming out of the pipe LOL

Well I just change the stock exhaust (3.5") to 4" and when I saw the inside of the muffler I noticed that there is a decrease in diameter inside of the muffler I think to 3", and I supposse that that will afect in some way the flow thru muffler, the new muffler (magnaflow) has exactly the same diameter from front to back all the way
Can i cut off the muffler on my truck and run straight pipe?? If this is possible will it hurt the performance of the truck.
o man. i live in MI, don't know the emissions rules here and don't care. i love to smoke out every rice burner or chevy i can find. as soon as i bought my truck i cut the muffler right off, straight pipe. its got a mean sound and i personally believe the more a diesel can "breathe" the better it can run. big air intake & no restrictions on exhaust.
6637 for sure!! ive joined the performance perade,, and i just put on my 6637, it has opened so many doors, i am now looking into putting a down pipe and exhaust system on..

You wouldn't say that if you lived in a state that has yearly emission testing.
No cat = no license plate. We don't have those tests here in MI...for now
I hope you kept the cat, there is talk of emission testing returning to MI.

Have you looked through a 99+ muffler? lol I know banks doesnt even sell a muffler for our year trucks.
