Well, I gutted the cat on my 95 CC DRW and sawed the muffler off too, I of course broke the studs off the stock downpipe, so I ordered a 3" flowmaster 2 piece downpipe.
I couldn't find a piece of pipe that slipped over the original to replace the muffler with, so I got one the same size and I'm just gonna butt weld it in tomorrow...
I got 3 new sawzal blades to butcher the stock downpipe with.
I can't see the seam that people say I have to hammer down to get the pipe to clear the firewall.....I imagine I'll be able to get at it once the downpipe is out, correct?
I've had a exhuast snafu. I had local shop order a kit from internet site I provided. Ad was a little misleading, or at least we misread it. It was for turbo down pipe, back. We all thought that included the down pipe, but NOT. So now I need one for a 97. Can you get one that is 4" at the exit? Or do they only come 3" both ends? The cat delete pipe that they install from kit steps down from 4" to 3.5" to 3" where it mates down pipe. I would like a down pipe that steps up to 4" to meet cat delete pipe. Would have to cut cat delete pipe back to the 4" section and reweld.
ANYbody that knows where I can get one please chime in, I'm needing it soon (now)
I believe this one to be 3" at both ends, it's flowmaster part number 1029.... (it's suppossed to work with the stock cat flange) ....we'll see tomorrow and I'll report back.
I ordered it at Bakers Auto Supply in Nanaimo B.C. Canada
ok, it's on the truck.....3" in 3" out.... came with it's own heatshield for the lower pipe.... It was a pretty straight foreward install with the toughest part being the dipstick tube bolt....
BTW You need a sawzall and a new blade to get the old one out and cut the heatshield/floorpan lip...
It sounds better (you can hear the turbo)and seems to spool up quicker, I'm not sure if the downpipe contributed much, because I gutted the cat and took the muffler off at the same time...
I'm shocked at how quiet it still is..
