i have had these Twin I beam emblems for a awhile now and figured id stick em on today, thought id come on here and ask before i head out there. am i lookin at a very frustrating job? and how would i put them on? the plastic is missing on one side of the truck (if you need the plastic at all), so am i just lookin at a couple nuts holding the it on?
They don't bolt on with nut's, they use barrel pins that push into the fender holes from the outside of fender, then you push the emblems into the barrels/holes, you will see 2
tit's on back of the emblems, that's where it pushes into the fender, check and see if you have the barrel's in the fender or on the emblems? you can't install without!
well all that i have is the frame thats says Ford 100 and thats on the truck, so thatw ould have to come slide the emblem in and push the pins through?
So you have the plastic inserts already? then you have to remove the frames from the truck by CAREFULLY'' pulling them out of the fender using a screwdriver slid underneath the emblem frame I wrap a screwdriver in a dish rag or something so you don't scratch the paint on the fender'' when you get them off then you will see a couple lips on the back frame' that's what the inserts snap into! ...PS, pry up on each side of the frame a little at a time, you will see how it pops out..good luck!
awsome thanks, it wasent that hard. the frame just pops out. reading your post i thought it was gonna be a long process. lol
still needs a good bath tho..
"As original" the barrel clips that retain the fender emblems are not plastic, they are steel.
The Twin-I-Beam plastic inserts have been reproduced. These were not available as original, only came with the emblems.
These are difficult to install as the tabs that retain them to the emblem have to be carefully bent outwards to remove them, then bent back to retain them.
1965 fender emblems are different than 1966. 1965's have FORD F100 (or F250) above. See post #6 for 1966 emblems.
