1997 Ford F-250 Light Duty, 2WD. Front driver's side axle assembly needs to be replaced, as the threads on the spindle are very badly worn (the axle nut won't thread at all).
My questions are as follows:
(1) how difficult a job is this?
(2) What should I watch out for?
(3) should I call a wrecking yard for the part(s) or order something new or reburbished from the auto parts store?
I depend on this truck for work so I'm eager to hear any suggestions you might have.
on a 2 wheel drive i think that part is called the spindle. you have a ball joint at the top and bottom to remove the spindle unit. I would think a junk yard would be a good idea.
