Vin Question
I have heard through the grapevine that for stopped producing the "Highboy" in 77.5 or as of 3/77 and anything after vin code y20001 is not a Highboy, I found a truck that has the vin code f26hry21678 so it shouldn't be one but it has all the other tells of one. Divoced t-case 2.5 inch springs in the rear and in cab fuel tank blah blah blah list goes on. Vin seems funny too me because it is not the right sequence for a high boy but chasis tells a different story maybe a cab swap? or maybe a crossover of extra parts from the factory? Is there another spot on the truck a vin would be posted so I can nail tis down? I'm getting the truck either way just because I need a truck and it be darn sexy! Thanks in advance for any and all help.

The VIN is also stamp on the passenger side frame rail in two places. The one that you can see is stamped on the top of the frame rail in the engine compartment. It can be anywhere between the radiator support and firewall but is usually about inlline with the alternator. It can be stamped lightly and can be hard to locate or read.
The second, hidden VIN is also on the top right frame rail under the cab usually about 6"-12" behind the front cab mount.

Thank you much sir, I'll be going by later today to take a look. Truck is sitting at my shop right nowuntil I can build the exhaust and get the tail lights fixed. I'll try too get some pics of her up when I can.
