I bought a 96 F250 7.3 with the E4OD. The previous owner did a diy rebuild after the center shaft broke. If you put the truck into drive, it feels like it starts off in 3rd. If you put it in 1st or 2nd, it starts in 2nd. It will not shift gears while driving. The overdrive light doesn't flash and when I pulled the codes it only pulled something for exhaust back pressure. I figured I would do a pressure check on the trans. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I am worried that the case got scored.
Per Mark, I checked the wiring on the solenoid harness all the way to the pcm. The continuity checks on the harness with no breaks. I also ran a jumper to the solenoid block and all the solenoids audibly opened. Is there a way to get the pcm tested before I spend money on another one?
Ok, This is where I have gotten so far. I checked the power sires to the solenoid harness an I have 12 volts to both of the power wires. I took the truck to a local garage and had them pull the codes. I am still getting the same codes for KAM error and exhaust back pressure. The mech. used a SnapOn Solus, and it said that it wasn't detecting P or N for the KOEO/KOER tests. I replaced the MLPS on a hunch, but it didn't change anything.
I am getting thoroughly confused. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to go next? Am I coming down to a bad PCM? Thanks for the help.
