why did you point the valves up rather than to the side, any reason, or just style preference, I am thinking of mine going off the side
is that a 460? how did you deal with the old AC pulley bracket that bolted to the side and top of the york- it gets in the way of my sanden, & I'm not sure the pulley will have enough bolts to keep it firm. thinking of cutting off the top part, don't need it.
To be honest, I didn't think about mounting them to the side.
Nope, it's a 390. On mine the bracket allowed me to fabricate a small bracket to tie the compressor to the top part of the original bracket.
Looks good to me. I like the ground cable too, can't have too many grounds.
I am a believer in grounds as well. I spent 30 years as a mobile radio tech for Motorola and GE and good grounds cleared a lot of problems with radio communications. I have the battery ground to the engine, the engine to the frame, the frame to the body, the body to the hood and the factory ground from the body to the engine. I also ran a ground from the radiator support to the frame; this increased the headlamp brilliance a noticeable amount.
Looks good. When I was building my truck and my 460 swap, I bought a sanden compressor with the bracket and double groove pulley and it would not line up with my other pulleys for some reason. I ended up going with a York, but since then I have changed out my water pump and crank pulleys with the L&L ones for my 460 swap. I'm thinking now maybe a sanden would work. I think I had a little trouble getting my York to line up properly with the L&L ac bracket too, but can't remember. But now, I have everything lining up, so if I went to a sanden I would think it would work.
Well, I'm gonna do this conversion on my 75 supercab 460. I got the parts on order and of course I ordered the wrong mount bracket. I first ordered the mount with ears and would need a separate belt tensioner. But, I have the same bracket that was mentioned earlier that would interfere with the compressor, so I then had to order the other one that allows the compressor itself to be tightened. I didn't feel like cutting the original bracket. Ya never know when you might need it. I'll keep updating as I get into it. I ordered the fittings for my stock hoses so hopefully they will work.
I went the custom hose route for a cleaner look but the adapter fittings should work okay.
I do like the look of your setup. Very clean. The only other thing I'm getting new is the drier/receiver. My brother evacuated the system last year and recharged the system and there didn't seem to be any problem with the pressures so I am assuming my condenser is still good and a new compressor and drier should be all I need. I will replace all the orings on the hoses too.
Thank you for your post, how is going, I been thinking to ask you where can I send you some for your coffee you really really have been helping me out.

Thanks.
Going well here, thanks
Thanks I appreciate the offer but this is how that works for me. Back in the day when I was coming up there was no internet and how I learned about these trucks is from old timers that passed the day by hanging out at junk yards getting a part here and there for their trucks. They shared freely what they knew about what worked and what didn't. How to fix it and where the best place to get a part and what was a fair price. I am just paying back what was so freely given to me. That's how I was raised and I suspect you may have been raised the same wherever you call home. I'm happy knowing your making progress on your highboy.
Good morning, wow so nice of you to have that great attitude toward others, it is the same approach my mentor has, always try to pass on what you know to the younger generation, to carry forward.
