Hey guys, does anyone have a receiver/sub/amp system in their Supercab worth $400 or less retail, and if so how do you like it? I have a limited budget but I'd like to get some bass in my truck. Thanks!
Well I'm actually in the process of buying a truck, but it'll be an 04-06 F-150 Supercab, and I'm in Minnesota, but I plan on probably buying everything online because its cheaper.
Think one or two of these would be a good option? The cheaper the better, again.
what are you using as a head unit? might have an issue with those amps never heard of them if they are to cheap then they have a tendency to allow frequencies beyond 80hz to the sub which 1) is annoying 2) will slowly burn out the coil of your sub
most of them are the same that have a high output anything less then 500watts wont move your seat for the speaker selection listed.....
you still need a sub enclosure correct? need to find where your going to mount it if under the seat then you need to figure out the clearance from the floor to the box that measurement is key then go back to that site and find a speaker with an excursion less then the measurement frm floor to box
I do but I plan on building that myself to save some $. I listen to mainly rock of all types except super heavy/dark stuff, with a lot of classic stuff from the 60s-80s, would one 600w RMS 10" probably be alright for that or would you suggest more?
idk depends on you I would make one box with dual 10's if you need more down the road you can always buy another sub I listen to everything but country and I was running dual 10's but they don't produce enough bass so I am going to go dual 10's and dual 8's for a quicker harder direct more accurate bass hit
Really, you need that much bass? Like I'm not trying to sound insulting, that just seems like an awful lot. What RMS values are you running? Also what mounting depth can I go for maximum to get under the rear seats? Thanks.
it's not that much bass honestly the bigger the speaker the less accurate so if you have two 10's there is a mild lag for them to hit but the 8's will provide a accurate bass like for example the song white stripes the bass guitar intro should be distinct each note should trigger an 8 to hit since the 8's and 10's have a different frequency response they will compliment each other where all 10's will blur all those notes into noise
mounting depth depends on 1) the space under your seat 2) depth of the sub 3) type of material you make your box from most speaker boxes are made out of 3/4 mdf
have you made a speaker box before? are you good with math? it's more involved then cutting some wood you have to make the box for the speaker your buying in other words you need to make sure there is the proper cubic feet for the speaker you choose. if not you can have the best W7 sounds like a cheap treo speaker
I use 1/10 in my Ranger. It hits so loud in the ported box people think I have 2 because the box is so big. I had it down firing. I have it firing front now just to show people. All subs move at the same speed. Big subs move at 60 cycles just like 8s do or whatever hz its doing The saying small subs move faster than big subs is a audio myth.

nice to know but I wasn't talking about speed I am referring to the way I like "my subs setup" having one sub hit every frequency from 80 and below produces a muddy sound and isn't as clear as what i am aiming for.... would the average person hear the difference NO will i YES so that's why i am going with two 8's and two 10's
