I have a 2006 F-350 with the V-10 and six speed manual transmission. Recently the service engine soon light came on. I was debating on purchasing a Bully dog Watch dog before, but since this code appeared I decided to pull the trigger on the watch dog and purchased it. I used it to read a code on one of my chevy's and worked good. I hooked up the watchdog to the ford and set it up and it read the guage functions but I could not read any obd codes. I have been told the OBD computer is seperate from the vehicle computer. Anyone ever experience any problem like this?
Make sure the ODB port has power. Could be a blown fuse. I believe (someone will correct me if i am wrong) that the cigarette lighter power port and the ODB port are on the same fuse...
It's weird that it read a Chevy... I thought you couldn't use a "tuner" to read codes except for the same brand it is supposed to be used on? (unless Bully Dog says it can).
Likewise on the cigarette lighter fuse.
Shoulda-woulda-coulda, but you should visit the V10 forum, 5-star and SCT X3's are the way to go with the V10...
the watch dog is not actually a tuner, just a "performance monitor", and is supposed to work with any obd II (96 or newer) vehicle. I looked through the fuses I will double check again today. The guages and performance monitor work on the watch dog it just is not recieveing a signal from the obd computer. Also If I do duy a tuner it will definitly be from 5 star!
I tried 12 port and had power so, I thought I would unhook the battery. Came back a few hours later reconnected and started the truck and the watchdog read the codes. One was P0141 o2 sensor and the other was p019E and shows up unknown, now just to figure that out
Ah, did not know Bully Dog made anything like that
thanks for the correction.
The watchdog also has a driving coach. it will tell you when you have a heavy foot and give you driving tips ( drafting semi's, coasting to redlights, ect....)
