Well, I've been having a problem with not be able to read codes on the truck. Back whenever my transmission went out the truck was non-responsive through the OBD2 port. They decided that the computer was bad and changed it whenever it really was fine.
Now, the truck runs fine but I would like to read the occasional code. I have an idea of what codes it is throwing but it bothers me not being able to read the codes. Any ideas what could cause this?
-> cigarette lighter works (OBD2 port and lighter are on same fuse)
I believe so.......I think I might take a trip to the stealership and see if there stuff works. I've been trying all the code readers I can get my hands on but maybe I'm not using readers that can read the SES lights that disappear.
If the ses light came on then there is a code. The 7.3 engines are not OBII compliant whereas they were built as a "commercial" engine by International. Most of the guys here use an AE to scan for codes. Others have had programmers. superchips, edge, that they have ditched for for a DP Tuner and they use those to scan for codes. You cant go to AutoZone and get the codes read. The code readers of that style will read some codes but not all.
