My dad bought a Anderson Rapid hitch with a 2 & 2 5/16 ball works great for different height trucks and trailers and is rated for 10,000 lbs max trailer weight, just remember to lock it or take it off as they are about $250

Depending on what you will be towing, make sure to look at the rated capacity of the drop hitch and the ball itself. I think the Class III hitches run up to about 5,000 - 6,000 GTW and are usually hollow.
All my drops are Putnam class V drilled out to accept the largest ball shank. They are rated for 1,500/15,000 which is more than enough. Better more strength than less.
