When you get to Ca. if you still need anything done on the VW, I have a buddy in Sacramento who's a VW bus nut, mostly air-cooled but he's also very knowledgeable about Vanagons, in fact he had a Westy just about like yours that he sold a few months ago. He's hooked up to a whole network of VW folks in the area and has tons of connections.

He's also a bicycle nut as well as a member of FTE. I was at his shop just yesterday helping him out with some things...

Thanks! I may have to stop by!

Sorry for the lack of upsates, its been slow here, been in portland area for over 3 weeks, miserable weather, hardly any biking, I am very restless, but I will be on the road again tomorrow. Just got front rotors, pads, wheel bearings, seals, spindle nuts, rear drums, shoes and hardware done on the VW today. Also got the helicopter ride along the oregon coast done yesterday too! I'll get updated stuff up.

Currently sitting here planning my route through cali and oregon!

We started n hillsboro, then went to newport, then up the coast and re fueled at tillamook, then flew up to astoria, and then along the columbia river, we had to cut back over to hillsboro about 20miles west of portland cause there was a storm cel there and we couldn't fly the chopper in, we were lying for a little over 4 hours!

Hello everyone, bit of an update:

I finally left portland area on saturday, went down to eugene area and visited another buddy of mine. Did some awesome biking the first day there, and my buddy brought me out to some of the local hot spots. Next day, a bunch of us went up to some hot springs then we drove the forest roads and got to see the cascades. The day after, I did another awesome bike ride.

Later on in the evening, I learned that a good buddy of mine back on oahu had passed away. Really sucks, I knew he was sick but I was hoping to see him again before he passed, no one expected it to be so soon.

I'll be flying from portland to honolulu tomorrow to pay my respects to my buddy. Looks like my road trip is taking a serious detour!

I'll be flying into oahu, then my buddies got me a flight to the big island from next friday to monday, then fly back to oahu, then back to portland on nov 1st.

I am happy to be going back to the islands, but i wish it was under different circumstances.

If you would like I can label some of your pics of the Oregon Coast.
Your pic of Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach bottom right corner is the Stephanie Inn I worked there quite some years ago.

That would be great! I didn't really know what any of the places were called!
