Rockauto won't take my credit card. I have been trying for several days now. It just says my order cannot be placed and I need to call a number. Called the number and he said the zip code has to be correct and it is. No other information than that, so calling was very NOT helpful. I'll just go to O'Reily's and have them order it. It will be about the same after shipping.
No, but I am damn close to it. This truck is milking me dry. I think the bank's system has the wrong zip code and they can't change it. So much for technology.
The cable came and I picked it up today. I'll install it this weekend and maybe the new IP again.
13 MPG this last tank. Better than 10 but far from the 20 I need to make this truck eligible for my 4000 mile trip. I hope the new IP solves my idle and MPG problems.
Does anyone know if this new throttle cable should be lubricated? I remember hearing of people using some kind of oil to lubricate the inside of throttle cables. I heard it somewhere unrelated to FTE. Thoughts?
I would lubricate it. My recommendation is to use a silicone spray lubricant. I believe that was what was recommended when I replaced the spedometer cable and e-brake cables on my Jetta. Yes I know its a different application, but the cables are similar in design. Unless I'm mistaken, the silcone was recommended by the manufacturer of the cables.

That gets me to thinking which can be dangerous sometimes! LOL. The throttle cable on my 94 idi is way stiffer than the cable on my 93 idi. The cable on the 94 looks new, guess the PO put it on there but it's way too stiff! I thought maybe it was just the spring on the lever but I switched the springs out from the 93 to the 94 and it didn't make a difference. It's not a big deal I guess but it aggrivates me!

If you take the cable off the pump and actuate the throttle, is it stiff? If it is, the TPS may not be adjusted properly. I know when I have adjusted mine in the past, if I get the spade connector that attaches to the TPS too far off, I wind up adjusting the TPS to where it binds up and inhibits throttle movement. Does the pedal return to idle quickly?
I will look for some silicone lube...for the cable.
I installed the throttle cable this morning. It was not hard at all. I did spray some silicone lubricant in it. I definitely notice more throttle movement and the pedal isn't so floppy. I am thinking about taking a ride out to the country and back to test my MPG and the throttle cable as well.
