Not wanting to hijack this post but I went to replace my throttle cable because I thought the cable was sticking lucky for me it was the bottom of the pedal getting stuck on the carpet solved with floor mat. Anyway the cable end where it snaps onto the ip every cable I found the snap clamp was to big for the ball on the ip throttle anyone know what's going on? Is it an ip for an older model?

I replaced my 1994 F350 IDI throttle cable a few weeks ago with a Doorman from Napa. Think I paid about $30 for it, maybe a little more. I also had 2 return springs on the throttle under the hood that made it really tight, so I removed one. I may even get one that is lighter than what is on there now. The spring on the cable itself seems pretty tight, so maybe that alone would work?

Thanks Vic.
86,
I was under the impression the ball was the same on all IPs. Maybe the cable is not made to spec. What brand did you buy?
I only have one spring on my throttle right now. It seems to hold well. It was like that when I bought the truck so I had no idea they could have 2 springs.

I have the same problem on my 94 IDI turbo. The previous owner had replaced the throttle cable and it wants to pop off the ball on the IP pump lever, especially if the kick down cable, or whatever its called, is attached to it like it is suppose to be. I took a pair of pliers and crimped the end of the throttle cable just a bit where it connects to the ball and it's holding for now. Speaking of the return spring on the IP pump lever, I need one. Mine is pretty weak and rusty and the smaller spring inside of it is pretty much gone. Anyone know a part number for this or where I could get one?

What i had were 2 springs that were "spun" together. I had to unwind them from each other. The gas pedal was really hard to push. Driving down the rode gave my right leg a pretty good workout. Way too hard. It still seems a little stiff and I may try to pick up a lighter spring at some point, but we'll see.

Yeah I knew the cable was a new one, I was trying to figure out where to get a replacement spring for the IP lever but that's not gonna be an issue now. I just figured out today that a previous owner of my truck had put the wrong IP on it. So, I'm ordering a new IP and that should take care of the spring issue.

Hey as soon as you receive your new one could you let me know if it has the bigger ball on it?
