Things to check:
MAF
Air filter
Fuel filter - when was it last replaced
Have plugs/wires/boots ever been changed?
Are you 2wd or 4wd? If 4wd, have your hubs engaged causing unwanted drag?
How's the fluid in your diffs look?
The list could go on, but without more information it's really difficult to diagnose through my keyboard. Any more info you can provide?

You gotta think too, the hotter the air, the less dense it will be and the more air the motor needs. I live in Arizona and the combination of 110+ temps and the ****ty summer blend of gas always make me paranoid something is wrong with my truck in the summer. When it cools off the things runs a lot better. That being said... could also have something to do with what MCDavis said.

Ryan's right about air density, but that shouldn't affect the truck as much as the OP is referring to.
FWIW, it was 98* last night, with 75% humidity, heat index of 105-110 in Central VA and my truck felt pretty much the same as it always does. The only reason it felt like a dog to me is that I've been rocking the wife's TSX while she's out of town. 2,000lb weight difference nearly.

Hmmm. Are you getting any odd readouts on the Edge?
From the sounds of it, you pretty much have it nailed as far as maintenance. It's possible that your truck just doesn't like the heat.
Are you running a stock intake? You might want to look into the "Gotts Mod"

ty MCDavis i put a airaid intake on instead of the gotts mod i am starting to think it the fan clutch being ingaged more due to the heat as far as the edge temp 194 to about 198 alternator 13.9 or 14 volts trans temp 150 to 160 ish getting about 15.5 mpg per the edge and its set on #2 tow mode where,s its been for several years dont know what the deal is it shifts fine just feels down on power in the heat it runs great during the winter time here in nc

When did you put the airraid in? Excuse my ignorance, but I cannot recall if that intake pulls from within the engine bay, or if it has an inlet within the fender well, like a stock intake.
I would like to think that if it's pulling from within the engine bay, that it is in fact compound the heat issue as well. Just a thought. And you're quite welcome.

the airaid intake pulls from behind the grill like the stock intake just does not reduce down like the stock intake so its just a gotts mod without reworking the stock intakeas far as the edge goes i have been running this set up for 50k with no problems just seems like the truck dont like the heat

The stock intake pulls from within the fender well. It does not pull any air, unless you've modified it, from the engine bay or from behind the grille.
I think that Shotgunz might be right, the lean scenario could finally be catching up with you when the ambient temps rise.

I'll post this one more time and then I'm done with trying to help you avoid hurting your truck.
The Edge is meant for stock intakes. If you've got a 5.4L, 3V (04-06) put the stock intake back on before you melt a piston...
Call Edge. Tell them your set-up. Ask them their opinion of using an after-market-warmer-air-than-stock-under-the-hood-bling-intake with their tuner.
