What is a good scanner not to expensive to be able to read or trucks? I would like to be able to pull my own codes and diagnose other things as well.. what are you all running?
Thanks
Thanks
I would offer two choices. First is Autoenginuity. Its laptop based and while I haven't used it personally it gets great reveiws around here for the Ford enhanced package and you can expand it to other makes if need be.
The Second option that I would recommend and I personally run is the Aeroforce Interceptor gauge. Its a 2 1/8 diameter gauge that has the ability to read codes, perform buzz test and contribution test on our trucks. Its not as comprehensive as AutoE but it will read codes and live data. I am a mechanic so have lots of scan tools available but the interceptor is always in my truck and I have used it on a few occasion to diagnose my truck far from home.

Going by memory here but this is what I use ...
Engine oil temp
Boost
ICP pressure
IPR percent
Transmission temp (auto)
IAT (input air temp)
Battery voltage
Injector pulse width
Engine rpm
Miles per hour
Exhaust back pressure
Current gear (auto)
Run time minutes (since last start)
A few others I don't use, and remember our rigs don't have all the sensors that 99 up do.
