My 04 f250 has a random surge couple hundred rpm really noticable at idle in gear not to bad in drive. really would like to get a good scanner on it and see what it is doing so i know which direction to go.
anyone in the austin/ pflugerville/ round rock area with some know how and a scanner please let me know we can meet up. not looking for free but would not mind it either
would like to talk scanners a bit too as i would like to buy my own but i must be able to see live feed.
anyone else with scanners post what ya got what they do and what they cost so i can make a more informed decision.

I use Torque Pro for my live information and Car Gauge Pro for buzz tests, both connect to blue tooth OBDII port.
It sounds like you want something more advanced but not sure if you've already looked into those.
There are a number of threads on FTE where a large community is providing PIDs for Torque Pro, and I believe your 6.0 has a good set out there with more info than is available for the 7.3. I'm happy to meet up sometime and show you what I have running for my 7.3 and 6.7 (I'm out in Lago Vista).
