What is a good brand of scanner? What's a reasonable price for one?

Auto Engenuity. Get the ford Enhanced package. Will run you 350ish bucks, but it's a good one.

if you have an old laptop by far the cheapest is to get a usb elm327 adapter off ebay then download the free software at forscan.org, you will then be able to scan every module for around $35-$50
