Specifications Questions--1957-60

I have searched through my shop manuals and on line. I cannot find specs and/or dimensions for the 57-60 F-series trucks. Chevy folks have the "old manual project" or something from which to draw. I've found all the info in the world on Chevys from 47 through at least 59, but nothing similar for Fords.

In particular, I'm trying to get cab-to-axle measurements among others. I'd like to see what bed might fit on my truck. It measures right at 60" from back of the cab to the center of the rear axle. The frame is just at or slightly over (within an inch or two) of 96" from the cab to the end of the frame.

Any help is appreciated.

Bob,I've got your dimensions from the 1959 Competitive Comparison Manual.

134" Wheelbase: Cab to Axle,60.5"

Max. Side Rail Dimension-in.depth,7.08

Section Modulus, 6.24

They also list a 154" wheelbase.Steve

What model are you looking for? I've got the 1957 Body Builders Layout Book that shows the F-350 and F-500 are 60.5" from back of cab to the center of the rear axle. But the wheel base is 130", not 134". Back of cab to end of frame is 99". If you need it I can do a scan tomorrow and post it. Stu

Steve...thanks! Do you have access to the same dimensions for the F-350 with an 8' pickup box? All I can find is 118" WB to compare to my truck's 135" (I measured 132"...pretty close!)

Stu...if you can scan and post, that would be great. If you have the dimensions for the cab to axle center of a truck that carried an 8' styleside or flareside bed that would also help me.

The F-350 schematic is SRW, and drawn without a bed. As I understand, the book's purpose was to allow aftermarket companies to design products to fit the chassis. Thus no beds are shown in any of the drawings. I'll have to take the book to a good copier to reduce the size of the drawing. Tomorrow is breakfast with the guys, so I'll go to Staples afterwards. Here's the chassis schematic for the F-350, and the cab schematic for the light and medium duty models. Stu

If your lap top is like mine, the numbers won't be real easily read in these charts. They are clear on one of my computers, but not on the other. If you think this info is useful, but can't read it, I'll send you a hard copy that is readable if you want. Do me a PM with mailing info. Stu

This is amazing! I will have to send you the e-mail--it's pretty "cluttered" with all that data!

Now...let's see if I can do this...
