Why do YOU own a Ford?
my reason
To pull my 34ft trailer. Was pulling with a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 v-8 gas.
My new F-250 crew cab has more room for comfort and more power for pulling. Only had it since June 30th 2010. Can't wait get it on the road. Got to get the hitch re-aligned.

You will be blown away at how much better the Ford will pull your trailer than that 1/2 ton Chev., especially if it was a 5.3l v8.
That reminds me of a fun story you guys might like. When I was shopping for my truck, I knew I wanted a crew cab, short bed, 4x4 F250 with a V10 and Lariat trim. I had owned enough Chevys, enough 1/2 tons and wanted more power, better brakes and better reliability. I was wandering through a huge used car sale that was held in our town and let's just say there were far more salesmen than buyers. The economy was in the tank and the car lots were really feeling it. So I wandered through the lot and the only things I saw were diesels and 1/2 ton GM trucks. One salesman had already showed me what he wanted me to buy (extended cab diesel that was $7,000 over my budget) and had given up on me. Like a shark smelling blood, before I made it to my car, in swooped the next salesman. When he asked what I wanted, I told him. Now I was open on color choice and maybe even trim packages if the price were right, but not much else, and with a straight face, he wanted me to at least drive the 1/2 ton, 5.3 Chevy they had on sale. His exact words were, "it'll out-pull the V10 Ford". How do you even deal with someone that dumb? I looked at him for a second, then turned to my wife and said, "let's go". I didn't even look back. I hate salesmen...
I grew up on a 10K acre farm in the middle of no where. Between Dad, the Uncles, and the shop at one time we owned 13 Fords 1 ton and down. I have watched those pickup do everything from pull out semi trucks to crumple under the tires of a 4 wheel drive tractor. Of all our friends, we were the only Ford family. I have watched other farmers go through 2 or even 3 bowtie or ram trucks to one of our F250s, while doing the exact same jobs day after day. Not to say everything has been perfect, more than a few have broken when the timing could not have been worse, including one that died while burning wheat stubble and burned to the ground. (1 month after dropping the full coverage ins I might add) Having said all that, the real reason is all the little things that Ford gets right. After 200K the A/C, elec window, door locks, and power mirrors still work. The doors still close and stay. The trailer lights still work. Sure, I tore the trans out pulling a 55K lb truck on into town when it broke down, that I will fix. If the door locks quit working, they will be that way forever. The last pickup I got rid of had 262K on it and everything worked, and I mean everything. Just try to find a bowtie that has lived on a farm that can say that.
I've always liked the look and body style of the Fords, especially the '92 - '96 years with some really sharp two tone paint combinations. I HATED the post '96 F150 body styles, that had a wimpy, car like look. That's why I've kept my '93 for 18 years+.
Ford's interiors seemed a bit more stylish than the earlier GM's, with the ugly squared off dashes.
The Super Duty models always appealed to me, so I bought one of the last 2010's with the ZF 6 speed.
The Fords trucks have all held up quite well for me. Over many hundreds of thousands of miles, I've never had to do internal engine work and never had to repair a transmission, although they have all been sticks.

I own a Ford truck because they were built with BEEF and contain the perfect parts to use as a donor for my Jeep.
Current DD is an '04 Titan crewcab with towing cap. of 10k with weight dist hitch. Would like a superduty someday to tow fifth wheel trailer..Absolutely refuse to buy ford light duty stuff though (1/2 ton & smaller) of any kind..

My Rams treated me well. But the Ford C channel chassis feels better. The Ram's ultra hard hydroformed chassis rides kinda jittery. So what if it doesn't flex. I wanted another twin I-beam front end truck. The Ram's aluminum upper control arms just don't impress me. I like the double din stereo port in the Ford. The Ram is a din and a half. Try finding an aftermarket 1.5 din DVD or GPS unit. The Ford offers electric driver and passenger seats in the XLT. The Ram requires you to buy the Laramie for electric passenger seat. The Hemi powered Ram HD uses a faux 5sp auto that's really a 4spd 45RFE with a little electronic trickery to produce two close ratio useless O/Ds. The Torqshift is a true properly ratioed 5spd. The Superduty is made in Kentucky. The Ram is made using cheap Mexican labor yet the price of the Ram is higher for comparably equipped trucks.
Its not a Sd, but...
I bought my 78 F150 because I have always loved the look of the 70's trucks. And because for 1800 it was the only thing in my area I could drive home and continue to drive without any major repairs. The Bowties were going for about 2500 plus and would have needed another 2000 fix make roadworthy. The Rams took to the hills a long time ago.
I bought my 08 F250 sc sb 4x4 V10 to replace my 01 Dodge 2500 sc sb 4x4 diesel because the dodge kept breaking down, for what I paid in repairs for the diesel I could replace the engine in the Ford, plus Ford didn't take bailout money
Yes I am! after driving the same roads climbing the same hills in VA even the small one along I-95 that would make the 5.3 feel like it was goig to over rev and come out of the engine compartment, I am pleasantly suprised on how much better the new truck did. I think the engine only got up to 2,025 rpms at the most the entire trip. And the added comfort of being able to run the A/C without making the engine work even harder was a bonus too! The bigger cab was a benefit too!. It's nice to be able to run the speed limit instead of crawling at 55 mph on the interstate.
Technically this isn't my first ford. My first ford was a 1968 ford fairlane 2 door, then a 74 ford maverick. Had two aerostar minivans and now the Super Duty. I can't complain able any of the vehicles I have had, for what I put them through, I got my moneys worth out of them!

I own Fords because I believe in quality for my Dollar! Something General Motors and Chrysler Corp. Stopped giving sometime around 1974! Coming from a farming family as others have said I've seen Ford trucks outlast the competion 3 to 1 and still have all the accy's work when the truck finally was more expensive to repower than it's value to the farm. Currently have 191,000mi on a 99 expedition, and everything works perfectly! 127,000mi 98 expedition same thing! A 2002 f 250 cc xlt lariat 298,000mi all works perfectly, 2007 f 350 cc drw xlt lariat 97,000mi all works perfectly! I have a 99 Buick Park Avenue 116,000mi valve guides worn out, and now head gaskets! Again!!!
