I really would like some help on this one..can anyone tell me the application for this flywheel..stamped#(D7TE-CE) and the cast# is (D7TE-6380-DC) that last letter is kind of fugly it could be a "G" .I think it is a 351m/400, if so what is the counterweight? Some websites say it will work with a externaly balanced 460 some swear it wont. Some say it wont even bolt up, some say it will but the balance is wrong so it will vibrate.whats the real story? I have a external balance 460 I need to mate with a np435.
like i said there are people who say yes and people who say no. how do you substantiate your claim? personal experience or heresay?thank you for a reply
never mind obviously asking people to explain their answer is just too much. so i found out for myself thanks, i may be new to this site but i am not a green mechanic. i have been wrenching for 17 years now and on just about everything. anyways this message is not about me it is about the project. A 400 flywheel WILL bolt on to a 460 but the imbalance is wrong a 400 flywheel has a 28oz imbalance while a 460 flywheel has a 24.2oz imbalance. there is also a thickness difference. I have a 351m/400 flywheel and purchased a 460 flywheel from the parts house to verify this info. this is also talking about a post 79' externally balanced engine.i will be posting info on youtube to truly help people with real info concerning this swap, from c6 to np435 in a bigblock truck.look for "np435 swap in a 79 f350" on youtube coming soon.
I know this has been a long while since you posted this but do you still have the 400 flywheel or know where I can get one. I think it has to be a 12" clutch.
I've checked with as many as I can find in four counties and no one seems to have one. They have all crushed everything older than 80 models. That's why I'm trying to go out of my box here in hopes that some one in another location has one or knows where I can find one.
