My truck just through this code auto Zone said it was a egr code I have heard ppl say these codes could mean turbo any help is greatly appreciated o and the truck is a 07 psd 95k on clock
If you have had a calibration update in late 2009 (TSB issued on Nov 20) or more recently, the PCM was updated to eliminate the turbo from throwing a P0404 code falsely. If not, folks are correct ... it could be the EGR or it could be the turbo.
The 6.0L has a variable geometry turbo - variable inlet guide vanes to the turbine. A number of moving parts. It is not a case of being either "good or bad".
Ok thanks I have shut it off several times and it hasn't went off but o well I ges I will take it to a dealer
it takes several cycles of warm up followed by a cold soak coolant temps need to change alot
it needs to get so hot then cool so much before its considered a compleate cycle
not shure of what temps the pcm want to see
and or the problem remains and you need a new egr valve
you said you cleaned the valve and truck runs perfict if it still runs ok give it a few days before you go to dealer
or go back to auto zone and let them turn it off and if it comes back on then you know its time for a new egr valve
