I was looking at www.carsinbarns.com and noticed on the mustangs and other cars that some of them were A codes... or D codes.. or R codes. and i have always wondered what these codes mean.
If im not mistaking, its the body style. Like the 70 chevelle/nova/buick are all B bodies. But im not really positive on this though. Maybe someone else can ring in with the correct answer.
Alright guys this sounds like a stupid question to me but when they say like a 4v or the 8v they do mean like 4 valves per cyliinder or what? I know what they mean on newer cars but the older cars have always made me wonder, I think it might have something to do with the carb so I was wondering if someone could clear me up on it. yes I know what 2 barrel and 4 barrel and all that mean but its the 2v, 4v, 8v, that have me stumped, I would of thought the numbr of valves but an 8 vlave per head motor, that dont sound right to me.
On the older cars it ment that if it was labeled 4v it had a 4 barrel intake and 8v was 2 4 barrel carb. . . what i wouldn't to get a hold of an 8V 427. . . but anyway for the 351 cleveland it meant the valve size to, if it was a 4v it had a 4 barrel carb and larger valves (intake valve was 2.19" compared to the 2v size of 2.05")
