If you need help with your paramedic stuff let me know, been doing it for a few years (7 civilian, 5 military). Also when it comes to CME's/CEU's I may be able to help you out as I'm a BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS instructor.

Where do you teach? Eventually I want to get my ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS. PHTLS is the one I think I'll like the most! I need to get more comfortable as an EMT-B first though. If you know of anywhere I could get some hours that would be the BIGGEST help
And for all you on lookers going
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support
PHTLS: PreHospital Trauma Life Support

I'm teaching at Camp Pendleton at the moment, I'm trying to get hooked up to teach with AMR out of San Diego. If you're just looking for hours right now your best option is to look into any local volly fire departments, not sure what there is up in your area, there's only a couple down here. Your other option is to see if you can do ride time with the paid department in the area, you may be working with a medic but you'll at least get some experience and probably see some half decent stuff. Another option is to go to your local hospital and see if they'll let you volunteer in the Emergency Department. You may be able to volunteer on base as a red cross volunteer as well, not sure on the limits of jobs available with that on Port Hueneme or Point Mugu.

There are only 2 volly depts here, the rest is Ventura County FD. And your ambulance companies dont like ride alongs unless its required (which I did. I have 12 hours on an ambulance. I might contact a local ER. That might be a good place. I am currently apart of MRC kinda... I got asked by Red Cross to go to the midwest this summer to help in the relief efforts for all the tornadoes and what not, but I didnt have my EMT cert yet.
Thanks guys! I was nervous. The testing center is VERY intimidating. Its resembles what a CIA observation room would look like from a movie. I was photographed, IDed any time they lost sight of me and they had to "read my veins" basically a finger print but based on the patters of veins in your palm. Crazy security ever since 9/11.
Also, the test is dynamic, it will change difficulty and number of questions depending on how well you are doing, so there is no way of knowing how well you did. It is a big relief now that I have passed. I will be applying to the 2 volunteer fire depts that are near me, (Santa Paula and Fillmore) because it is hard to get a paid job with no experience these days.
Congrats on passing. I will be atending school this coming fall to take the emt classes as well.
