Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have a 78 F250 4x4 and have replaced all of my fuel system except for one part which I can't get, and that is the part that is leaking! It is the metal fuel neck that receives the fuel and connects to the rubber gas tank connection hoses.
Does anyone know where I can get one of these? Does anyone know of where one of these is? I would be willing to buy one off of someone body if it does not have a rust hole like mine. LMC, NPD, and Dennis Carpenter do not have it.
It's called, interestingly enough, a fuel filler neck. Maybe ND will chime in so be patient.
Alternatively, Ford tended to use parts across the product lines so I wouldn't limit the search to a specific model. Second, you could cut off the rusted section and weld on a new section of tubing or just a patch.
I feel for ya guys in the rust belt.. dang, even fuel necks get rotted out.. that's freaking intense!!!
Unfortunately the rust on it is so bad I don't think anything much can be done to it. It looks real thin and I can't tell where the exact rust hole is. If it welded on it, I have a MIG, it looks like it would just blow right through it.
Also, the local salvage yards don't have anything older than 80s anymore, St Louis area. These are going straight to scrap, terrible.
Ok its is held into the pocket behind the fuel filler door by a large rubber o-ring and a clamp attached to a hook bracket on the top side of the pipe.
Once I undo the clamps, I am just going to try and pull it out of the o-ring and then I'll get it in the mail to you.
Question, it just sprang another leak. The metal fuel line sprang a leak right above the rear axle. Can I cut out the bad section and patch it with rubber fuel hose or do I need to replace the whole thing?

Much more info than you provided is required, because...
1978 F250 4WD: There are TWELVE different fuel filler tubes, I kid you not! Looking one a these up in the Ford truck parts catalog is a PITA. There are 10 pages of listings, over 50 different types for all 1973/79's.
Styleside or Flareside bed? Mid-Ship or Aft Axle Fuel Tank? With or without Evaporative Emission (unleaded or leaded fuel)? Regular, Super or Crew Cab?
Sold new in Canada or in the USA? What is the truck's wheelbase?
Canada or USA: The DSO code on the Warranty Plate will define what city/country the truck was ordered from...post what it is.
I assume this is a Styleside, so...which one of the three different types is it?
Aft axle or mid-ship fuel tank? Plastic or steel fuel tank? Regular, Stupor or Crew Cab?
You have to wonder what FoMoCo was thinking inre to some 1973/79 parts. Having pages of fuel filler tubes is ridiculous, and if you thinks that's crazy, consider this factoid:
1973/79 F100/350: There are TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINTEEN different power brake boosters, and SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not!
1968/72 F100/350: There is one brake pedal, one clutch pedal.
