yes thanks all i'm going with the spartan and i'll probably leave it in the 210 tune unless i think i may be reavealing too much to the state poliece then i'll tune it down some for the daily drive, i under stand how the max hp tune can get you the better fuel mileage by 2 seconds of 4mpg vs 30 seconds of 10mpg to reach 60mph but i under stand the diesel engine to know that the timing advance and dpf removal is enoughf to increase the efficiency, from wear the gov has forced it to be set but i havent torn down a 6.4L ford or seen the detailed fueling maps or even wiring diagram to picture just how she runs like i do with the 7.3, 6.0, chevy 6.6, dodge, most mack, cummins, cat, Detroit, Volvo, Mercedes, or international

let alone my only competition is my dads 05 2500 8.1l allison, brothers 05 2500 ext cab short bed 6.0, and mothers 04 2500 Youkon XL 8.1L

i beat their mpg and towing hands down stock just need to get off the line a bit faster

recap; thank you for the guidance, going spartain, don't want to blow smoke because of average cop count and how many passing moments i have in a week and don't want trouble with someone i passed getting mad and now riding my tailgate

Ive selected a off road 5" turbo back exaust and found a egr block off kit my uses are for every day driving i'm getting 14.8mpg on my drive on the back roads. and i would like to strip that 6.4 of the emissions standards that make that fuel mileage instead of the 24mpg my friend is getting with his 2006.

Justin
The H&S Mini Maxx or Black Maxx are the only ones on the market that can do all of those things. The good news is, they are the best options on the market in my opinion. You will be very happy with either one.

Alright spent 1900$ on 1-18-12 through puredpfdelete.com have the Spartan now and still waiting for the egr blockoff, 5" down pipe back, and dash mount.

I have installed the 150hp tune and wanted to say thanks for those who suggested the Spartan. the transmission shifts so much better now in normal operation and full throttle cant wait for the day of boxing the dpf and egr components, and hope to rise from my 12.5mpg to an average about 16 with my commute being anywhere from 50-70 in the morning to 0-50 in the afternoon and cant wait for the next family trip now that my 5 passenger truck should clean up any doubt of the 8.1 youkon, 8.1 silverado, or even my brothers 6.0 silverado getting better fuel costs than my truck at about 19-22mpg highway vs 11-14mpg of theirs

finally some fuel mileage numbers, first tank revealed 11mpg fun weekend and the second 14.6mpg from 12.7mpg changing my daily driver fill up every 4 days of work to every 6 days or gaining me about 120 miles to a tank, Ill see later on if i mature enoughf to get better fuel mileage or just that the 275 is too touchy for stop and go traffic and then i'll de tune to 40hp tune then up to 210

I could be on the road halfway home instead of sitting waiting for the tune to download. I had "shift on the fly" tunes on my old truck, and yea I'm not flipping tunes while cruising down the road, but I'm hooked to a trailer and on the road 20 miles with it where now I'm sitting waiting for it to finish downloading.

As nice as having a tuned truck without the emissions "stuff" is, it's worth waiting for the tunes. I like my KEM tunes, able to get the shifts like I want them; when I'm in tow/haul mode, I'm locked out of 5th gear which makes it pull great when I get to certain parts of the country around here, instead of lugging in 5th, then dropping a couple gears to pull the hill and back and forth.

I'd like to hear some more details of your KEM tunes , particularly the one that locks out overdrive for pulling .

Also , which do you like best for fuel economy empty/unloaded ?

currently , I'm running a minimax with the default tunes , but really don't like what it does to the transmission shifting

Your big tunes net the best mileage. The new 300hp tune from Spartan is actually pretty clean for a tune that big and shifts great.

I have a spartan and hate it.. Go with H&S.. You should also check out Spartans web site and see the issues people are having and the damage that can happen using some of there tunes.

Have you done the updates? Elaborate on these issues please?

You want the best mileage you can get, take a look at the Naturell CNG Conversion kit, 40mpg on a Power Stroke.

well found my fuel mileage with the 275 tune to be 14.7, trying the 40 tune now thinking that the stop and go the 275 is to touchy, and also i found the root cause for my slow coolant loss my truck had since i got her and was greatly exaggerated while on the 275 tune, hopefully just head gaskets and not the other thing i think i found.

Might as well stud it while you are there.

couldn't find a stud kit that didn't come without a 1500$ gasket set I spent just 500$ for all that I needed from ford, re installed my egr cooler being as that wasn't the leaking coolant culprit.

truck is back together and so far not leaking combustion gases into the coolant, the supposed crack seems to be only a scratch, hauled my sisters mustang from the shop back home and after the back roads passing two or so cars at a time still no coolant boil or even air pockets.
