Does anyone know how to diagnose a backup sensor system? Mine turns off when I put it into reverse. It doesn't appear that any of the bumper sensors are damaged. I am not to good when it come to anything with juice running through it. It was like that when I bought it and I sure would like it to work. Thanks!
I have heard of this tip ............... You can put your truck in reverse and put the parking brake on (make sure the parking brake is solid!). Then walk around and put your ear up to each sensor. The sensor that is not making the clicking noise is the one that is bad.
I have a similar problem a tow strap came louse and a D ring punched one sensor out with a big dent in the bumper, bought new sensor put it in and nothing. Any ideas.
Wulfman - Did you check the connector on the damaged sensor? Is the connector to the damaged sensor getting power (check voltage)?
OP - IIRC - tips on replacement:
There are two clips on the inside of the bumper that hold the sensor in place. If you tap the sensor through with a socket you will break the clips. Both of the clips are on one side of the sensor at 2 and 4 on the clock.
