Can backup sensors be turned off?
#5
I'd like to know if there's a way to disable it for good as long as the key is on. My dad's F-450 is like that, press reset and it's off until I hit reset again or until I turn the key off.
The fact that's the reset button is a story for another day though. I've unintentionally reset my tank mpg calculation because of it.

I need one too.
Seriously though if you disconnect one it will not work, and it will not bother you anymore, other then the light being on, on the switch on the dash telling you there is an issue. I have one out on my X and they have never made a sound. I would like to fix them, though I don't think I will ever take the hitch out of the back, as my wife can't seem to tell when to stop. The clunk the hitch makes when it hits the wall works as a sensor too.

Thats what I would like! I hate backing up to trailers and having to push the button over and over and over again when I am going from drive to reverse and park to reverse over and over again.
I also find the sensors make me more brave of backing up without knowing exactly whats behind me. I will see the tree, know its there and by the looks of the mirrors I would have stopped already but the sensor isn't beeping or beeping fast enough so I have more room right?
When I finally get my back up camera I may disable the back up beeper all together.

I've been mulling this over and looking at the diagrams. I'm thinking about putting a switch in the power feed to the (PAM) parking aid module located back in the jack compartment/rear hvac area. That should kill the system and the light while towing. That way when I'm sticking the hitch in, I can just pop the jack cover and throw the switch, and the reverse when I take the hitch out. I'll check it out when I do my stereo/camera install this weekend and let you know...
