Take a mechanics stethescope and while the car is in reverse, but engine off so you don't run over yourself, listen with the scope to each of the sensors. They will make a clicking sound if they are working. Even had my wife do it so easy to do.
I had the switch illuminated and never worked since I bought the car. 30 seconds and I found the left outside sensor was bad. $130 dealer cost for a new sensor and an hour of work will fix it. Looking for a lower priced part right now.
That's great information! Fortunately my scan tool will allow me to diagnose the sensors, but I never would have thought to see if they make audible sound! I figured they were ultrasonic and therefore well outside of the audio frequencies.
