I have a 2011 F250 XLT. The backup sensors are not working and I get a warning whenever I put the truck into reverse. I have a backup camera so do not want sensors as well. How do I get rid of the backup sensor warning so that I do not have to see it constantly?
Replace the bad sensor(s). If its all of them that's usually the main harness connector has corroded. With the truck in reverse and ebrake on, you can hear the working sensors hum when you put your ear up close. No hum = bad sensor.
To permanently turn off the Rear Sensing System (RSS), start with the “System check and vehicle feature customization” section.
Press the SETUP button repeatedly to cycle the message center
Cycle through until you get to this option:
REAR PARK AID (if equipped)
-This feature sounds a warning tone to warn the driver of obstacles near the rear bumper, and functions only when R (Reverse) gear is selected.
-Press RESET to turn this feature on or off.
This will make it so you don’t have to keep turning the RSS off each time you go into reverse on your 2011 F-250.
