2nd Battery

Hi, I plan, i really would like to install a second battery in the space where it would be had it been a diesel.

I'm guessing buying an OE battery tray would bolt right up.. but the charcoal canister ( i believe) is in the way.

Can i simply reroute it? or is it not to be touched?

Yep, it'll fit fine, just need to move the canister over a bit. Alternative is to fit them side by side and use a bit less cable. Note i used optima red tops.

Assume you have a 6.8l Lots of reading below...

Wow.. I should have looked harder for a thread that already exists.. im kind of new though/

Thanx alot for the excellent pics. Assuming the pics in your reply are of yours, what are you using to tie down your battery? And are those still MTP-65 sized?
That set up looks quick and easy.. especially when it comes to the wiring as you mentioned.

To tie it down I used generic steel from home depot (the one with many, many holes drilled in it). Slide on a busted inner tube from your bicycle, heavy butyl works best. Then tie into your existing fender bolt of interest- there are many to choose from on the Ex. Note the hack saw notch made in the corner support and covered with duct tape - a must for fitting. Also the existing battery tray need some hammer massage to make 2 fit. Then the windshield washer tank needs a trim and move toward the headlights (forward). I attached some pics to make sense of it all. Good luck!

Pic 1 = tied to passenger fender
Pic 2 = tied to battery tray support near the radiator

Pic 3 = adjusted windshield washer resevoir
Pic 4 = that nice thorn resistant bike tube and O'Reilly's 12'' cables.

The Batteries are a hodge podge - 2 different types, one with side and top posts, the other with just tops. In theory, you want exactly the same make/model/size batteries. 12 months later, these are still workin'.

It you want to add one by the canister, just move the canister down to the plastic inner fender and zip tie it there. Let me know if you want pic's of that. (That's where is stuffed the air compressor...).

I think my Misc. photo album has pics of that install.
