Was just looking up timing covers for the 300. Most of them are dated 65-97. If the timing covers didn't change, I doubt the seals did either.

If you look back at the picture of patman247's timing cover then the inside of mine, you see mine does not have the internal lip to hold the seal.

I don't understand what the black rubber part on the inside seals to... what does it touch?

It seals around the crankshaft.

ok.... on this motor that i have, the seal wont get anywhere near touching the crank, its still got like an inch on either side before it would touch the crank, ill snap some pics when i get home in the morning... grr im confused

It doesn't touch the crankshaft itself. It seals against the balancer/front pully hub assembly.
