Hey guys I have the dieselsite coolant filter sitting in my trucks toolbox waiting to get installed but I have wanted to flush the coolant and put in ELC. But I havent had the time and the right fittings for the flush so I will do it in a couple of weeks or so when I get the right parts and the new tstat. My question is, can I install the new filter while running green coolant and not have a sca filter??
Im sitting home bored and want to do something haha

What do you mean by an "SCA filter"? Do you mean a "charged" filter, one with time-release SCAs in it?
If using a charged filter, we should be using the two-unit size. However, I believe in using non-charged filters and maintaining the SCAs myself.
FOR SURE use a non-charged filter when using ELC, or you will "foul" the chemistry balance, and then have to maintain the ELC just as you did the green.
And like Ken says, change it when you go to the different coolant, as what is residual in the old filter will mess up the new coolant.
thank you for the help. I do have a question though about the mounting position of it. I have pictures to show that its hitting the rad hose which I dont personally care for.
and now my belt squeals really bad and all the coolant is off of it but I belive it has something to do with my tensioner and how humid it is tonight.
but for the coolant filter should it be that close to the hose? i called bob at diesel site and he said just to move the bracket over a little bit but I tried that and it still just doesnt seem right??
You could drill some holes right next to the other ones on the braket to move it more to your satisfaction. I actually drilled two lower holes in my bracket where the filter head mounts to the bracket because it was close to my hood. My hood closed but it almost touched the top so now the filter head is fine.
Mine touches the hose too. It seems like a tight enough fit that there's no rubbing or chafing. The last filter was on for over a year and there was no paint worn off the filter. Just make sure its attached to that bracket so it can't move much.
Yeah everything is tight and I did tie the hose back up so I guess it will be alright. It just seems like it pinched off the hose slightly. Here's another question. Which hose is better to have the around the belt or going through the belt?
I installed the same kit saturday, and was wondering about the filter and hose touching, I dont think it will cause any problems. I may drill new holes and more it over next time i'm bored.
I have the "around the belt" hose

The around the belt one for two reasons. One, it was the cheaper of the two when I bought mine (even though the hose is longer??) and two, if your belt ever breaks, you'll be happy to not have to pull the upper hose to put a new one on.
