Question what is the difference with the carlisle tires and their "USA trail" thread/tire and "radial trail" thread tires? The USA trail have a arch (rounded) thread like a motorcycle tire and the radial trail tires have a flat thread like a car tire. The USA trails are more money than the radial trails.
I caution you on the Carlisle based on the links that I posted previously. Many people on RV.net have stated problems. I would also stay away from bias as they are known for failure also.

I read the whole thread. Sounds like everyone likes their maxxis tires (what I have now) but many say they have good luck with the carlisle tires as well. But some mention having blowouts with carlisle and many saying goodyear are junk which isn't a surprise to me, we had very bad luck with them on our trucks!
I'm gonna look more at the maxxis but in a bigger size and maybe possibly a higher load range.
You know... probably all these tires are the same as long as the conditions are right. If we don't speed 70+ mph, don't exceed weight capacity, and keep them aired up all trailer tires will last. The problem is when we introduce one of these variables that defy the ability of the tire that the fail. Good luck in your search.
Maxxis wants $188 a tire for the 205/75R15 and I still have to get wheels. That pretty hard to take when I can get the carlisle tires and wheels for the same price. But then I see 1 maxxis 205/75R15 on amazon for $120 shipped. If I could get all 4 for 120 each that wouldn't be to bad. But with the carlisle I would think stepping up the tire weight limit from 1360 (what I have now) to the 21** of the 205/75R15 (same load rating for maxxis and carlisle) I would hope I wouldn't have any problems with the cheaper tires but still hopefully getting a better handling tire with the bigger size, high load rating, and more air pressure. The carlisle is what we have on our boats and yes they do wear out and we have had 1 or 2 blowouts over the years but we put the miles on them and weigh them down quite often with much problems. I say 1-2 blowouts over the time of 15-20 years isn't bad with the amount of miles we have put on the boats.
I'm not trying to be cheap, its just that I only pull the TT about 600 miles a year. I'd hate to get new expensive tires that get dry rotted and are shot before I can wear them out. I hate when that happens, feels like such a waste. lol
I ended up ordering the Westlake Super ST's in the stock size 207/75-14 from Vulcantire.com. $298 shipped. The no name and no review brand had a starting price of $77 a tire locally. Then the local guy was saying that I could spend more on the Goodyear Marathons. Then I had to explain to him that the reviews are not good online for those. He had no idea. If I was selling something I would do my research, so that I can actually back up the product.
I hope the Westlakes serve you well, so far thay have performed well for us.

Thanks Tom for the recommendation on a less expensive tire. I hesitated because of it being a less expensive tire. When I read that others on other forums had good service with them also, well that sealed the deal.
Hey Snow.... remember that just because they are more expensive doesn't make them a better tire. Blowouts are bad, but if you are only going 600 mi a year then why not just go with either what you know that works or what is recommended. Especially if it will save you some money in the end.
We pull our TT about 5k mi a year. More then most, but less then others. We pull slow (Our moto: No hurries, No worries) at around 60-65 mph. I monitor tire pressure. We haven't had a blowout yet. We also pray a lot. LOL.

Yeah I don't go over 65 as well with the TT mostly because I have a boat behind it as well. I am going to check the boat tires again to see what size and stuff they are. Might have one the right size so I can check clearances and all without even buying a wheel and tire yet. If the wheels and tires on my car trailer weren't 6 bolt I could put those on the TT and use them for a trip and see what effect a bigger better tire has on the TT without spending a bunch of money first. My car trailer handles excellent even when loaded to near the limit. Which is another reason I believe the little tires on the TT are hindering its stability.
Picking up my Springdale 303bhssr on Tuesday. I took it for a spin on Monday to see how I liked towing it . It handled pretty good being 34 ft long and 7600 dry. I will be ordering a propride 3p on Monday. I have been on the fence about towing something this long and by the time my wife puts everything but the kitchen sink but she wants it so..,..,

Hey Joe, If you haven't already joined you should go start reading up over here: RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Travel Trailers A lot of us are members over there also. Vast amounts of information just like on FTE. Good Stuff!

I already am a member from my last TT. hope to see you there. What do u tow?
We had a longer and heavier TT before. We decided to go shorter, but lighter and wider. I like the ultralite, but quality is not as good. I think the next one will have the rear garage and bunks, especially now that I have a teenager and another only 3 yrs away. I really like the ones with the rear garage/bedroom with bunks in it. Very practical design.
