Found this on a site. Pretty good specs. I think the biggest I could go is the 205/75R15 at 27" overall. Still a load range C but shows almost a 500# load increase over the 175/80R13's.

Made in the USA???? Maybe Goodyear Marathon?? (my tire guy said they've had some...)

I have totally given up on ST tires. Not only have I spent a fortune replacing them, they can do alot of damage to the camper!! Currently looking for 16" wheels for the toyhauler. Then I can run some REAL tires!

Check "Country of Origin".... All China... Goodyear Marathon (oops. almost called them Marathong)

Goodyear Marathon Radial

RV.net has lots of info and experience on TT tires:
RV.Net Open Roads Forum: New to Forum need adivse on new tires
RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Travel Trailers: Carlisle tires prone to blow out
RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Travel Trailers: tires brands
RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Travel Trailers: Pics of new rims and tires!

There are more, but figure that is enough. Many seem to like the Maxxis tires. I also am in the market for some new ones. My Marathons are over 7 yrs old.

Snowseeker, I have replaced a lot of trailer tires over the last 11 years. Most ST tires are nowhere near as capable as sidewalls claim. If you can get the 15" tire size you think and in a LRC (C), I think you will be much better off. If you can LRD, go for them as they can be inflated to a higher pressure--make sure to buy wheels that can take the 65 psig pressure (I think this is LRD limit).

I don't know anything about Maxxis, except that they are made in Korea(?) and get good reviews from other trailer owners. Few if any tires are made in the US now.

I've had bad luck with Goodyear Marathons on 16", LRE tires. The last set of mine did not last 2 years before they started coming apart internally. They were not overloaded. Period. I was able to switch my trailer to LT tires and that has made a huge difference. No more problems now.

Great tips and info! I will check some more today but I don't think I can squeeze a LRD in there. I don't mind the height and a little rubbing on the inside of the fender when going over bumps but I am unsure if there is enough width in the wheel wells.

I know most camper companies use the cheapest stuff possible but I am really surprised they used the smallest lightest possible wheels and tires for this thing. I never had my TT on the scales but I am certain that when loaded up it has to be very very close if not over the tire load limit. No problems with the tires chunking, wearing funny, coming apart or anything like that. They are just gooshy tiny balloons.

I never thought of it before but I will have to take a look at our boat trailer tires. They are good hard sidewall tires that have taken very heavy loads over the years and hold up very well. They may even be 16" wheels and stuff so I may be able to take one off the boat and see how they fit in the TT wheel wells.

Well I went to the local fleet farm today and they carry carlisle tires. Their 175/80D13 measures 25" overall where my maxxis are 24". So I assume their 205/75D14 would be the limit where the good year tires looks like I might be able to squeeze a 15" wheel in there.

I have a set (5) of Chinese Westlake 225/70-15E's on the ToyHauler now, the previous owner put them on in early 2010 after having 2 'D"s fail within an hour. The rims are only rated for the D pressure but he put 6k miles on them and I've put another 6k since I bought the trailer. We run them at the sidewal max pressure of 80PSI and check them at every stop either by hand touch or with the digital infared thermometer, have never seen one build any heat above just warm. It was 72 degrees one day on our last tow and the tires were at 78 degrees at a fuel stop after 290 miles at 60-70 MPH. So far these tires have served well but I have started looking into my options on 16" rims and shorter sidewall LT E rated tires for when the time comes to replace them.
Here's a pic of the EX with the TH in NC from last week. On this trip the TH weighed 9300lbs and had 1375lbs of tongue weight.

That is a nice looking setup Tom. Thanks for the info on the tires. My 31' Ultralite TT is only 5k empty and rated for 7,300 lbs. The reviews appear to be pretty good for the Westlake Super ST's. Hadn't ever heard of them till now. I will have to consider them. Don't like the idea of them being Chinese, but we have a very narrow market anyway.

Hey Snow, Check out Vulcantire.com. They seem to have a pretty good selection and good prices. With shipping they are still less then the local guys. I just have to have the locals mount them for $7 a tire.

Great thread! I just purchased a Keystone TT (31 BHSS) that weighs in at 7700#. I towed it with my '02 F150 Supercrew this past weekend. My truck did fine, but is not ideal, so...

I'm scouting for a X and have been reading several posts...pros/cons on the various engines. I even posted a question here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-x-to-get.html
...and would love any advice/response. Thanks.

I am picking my 7600 dry TT on Tuesday. I took it for a spin on Monday and it towed quiet well. I did not get into that much of a grade though. 7.3 2wd 01 limited

I ended up ordering the Westlake Super ST's in the stock size 207/75-14 from Vulcantire.com. $298 shipped. The no name and no review brand had a starting price of $77 a tire locally. Then the local guy was saying that I could spend more on the Goodyear Marathons. Then I had to explain to him that the reviews are not good online for those. He had no idea. If I was selling something I would do my research, so that I can actually back up the product.

Yeah, I'll check them out too.

Question what is the difference with the carlisle tires and their "USA trail" thread/tire and "radial trail" thread tires? The USA trail have a arch (rounded) thread like a motorcycle tire and the radial trail tires have a flat thread like a car tire. The USA trails are more money than the radial trails.
