Transfer Case BLEW UP!!!!
#16
GEM computer fouls up, send signal to electric motor saying "4 wheel low please", at 50 mph and boom. Fortunately everyone's OK, and you're not in for a tranny or worse. Cop friend of mine swears that when it happened to him the radar gun on the dash broke the windshield. In lawsuits we call it "sudden drivetrain lockup"

Here is a link to the site where I found the T-Cases for sale. Not sure if anybody has ever tried from here but the price looks good.

they are also paid to assist the public in need and paid to follow the laws they enforce but how often do you see a cop speeding down the highway in his civilian clothes not on duty or not using a blinker to change lanes or following to closely? the list goes on and on.....

Okay guys, finally got this whole thing fixed and taken care of. Sorry for the long delay in getting back on this one. Here is the update:
Found the initial problem: The double cardon on the front drive shaft suffered a catastrophic malfuntion where the sleve in the inner joint failed. This of course caused a death wobble and eventual explosion of the transfer case.
Transfer case: Found an awesome place in Lancaster called Autofox Recyclers. I picked up one with <50K miles for $375 with the electric motor!!!!
Brought the front driveshaft to another place in Lancaster called Yarmin Driveshaft. This place does great work but they have the WORST customer service. I went there on a recommendation and I DO NOT recommend this place to anybody else. It took them a month to get the driveshaft back to me. Hence the late post.
Oh and while I was at it, I replaced all of the U-Joints. I didn't replace the bearing though. I know, but hey after all of this I was kind of straped for cash.
So there it is. The ending to a catastrophic event. Its back up and running strong.
Later Guys!!

Thanks for posting your resolution to the problem. It's great for others who might end up in the same position. Had a Jeep Cherokee that did the same but only cracked the casing. Blamed it on using 4-low to drag a baseball field and making too many tight corners. When it died, my son was driving home from school and had it in 2-high also. Reps for posting back.

My wife was driving the truck yesturday and she noticed that it was riding kind of rough. Next thing you know BANG!!! she immediately pulled over, gave me a call and said "honey, it's bad, i'm seeing things that I'm pretty sure that I'm not supposed to ever see". When I got up there I saw that the T-Case exploded. Not too sure what happened. Was looking at some other forums and posts and others have had the similar issues and all sorts of things come up from faulty U-Joints to hubs being engaged to the trasnfercase automatically engaging itself. This sucks. I guess its back to the junk yard. Am I right that this is an NP 273? 99 F250 7.3L
