I purchased a Factory GPS unit for my FX4 and I can't get the factory face plate around the unit to fit at the top.I've checked out other threads and there is mention of a little trimming with a dremmel to make it fit correctly but what am I trimming?and how much
Slide the nav radio in place and get it nice and centered, leveled, then mark around the whole radio with a sharpie. Thats what needs to be trimmed. The plastic that gets trimmed, behind it, there is metal,DO NOT TRIM THE METAL, JUST THE PLASTIC. Also be verY carefull when doing this, as the outer part of the dash THAT IS VISIBLE CAN BE SCRATCHED UP EASILY. AGAIN ONLY TRIM AWAY THE PLASTIC NOT THE METAL.
NOOOO, u are trimming the grey plastic on the truck dash where the radio sits in. Install radio and trace around the radio drawing the line on the truck dash plastic. It maY seem like its a drastic measure , but if ever u need to place the original radio bak in, uou would just use washers to make up for the plastic that was trimmed away from truck dash. Again trimm away ONLY PLASTIC, NOT THE METAL BRAKET THAT SITS BEHIND THE PLASTIC ON THE DASH
