79 4x4 eletrical/lights/blinkers/ect.

im fixing to buy a 79 150 4x4 and it runs and drives great but the headlights/blinkers/idk what else is a mess.

i plan on restoring it from the ground up.

is this fixable??

im thinking just run standard wires to toggle switches?

i know its not THAT simple, but for headlights at least...

FILL ME IN

thanks guys!

If you have junk yards near you I would look for better factory wiring first. You can also buy brand new wiring harness for these trucks, but there pricey. I just got a complete wiring harness from a junkyard from headlights to everything in the cab that wasn't corroded or hacked up(still had factory radio even) including switches and only paid $40 for it. Would recommend use factory wiring or as close to it as possible

I agree. I don't recommend just brute-forcing it with toggle switches. Not only will you find that setup inconvenient to use; it will be very time consuming to build, and you'll have to consider circuit protection, wire gauge, etc. piperig78's suggestion of a new harness is another smart option, too.

Another thing, even if you were able to get it to work with toggle switches, if you ever went to sell the truck, it would make it very difficult. People would see that, and head for the hills, I'm afraid.

what years will work?

are you saying you used a newer ford, say a 95 150's wiring?

im not TOTALLY sure what it has and what it doesnt... all the gauges work as they should and the truck is mech okay wiring wise.

but it looks as if the headlights/blinkers/heater/radio are all disconnected for some unforeseen reason.

why would someone do this? shortage probs? idk?

help
