I just went through this with my 76. Very frustrating. I thought I had all the grounds covered. Turned out I had to clean out some thick powdercoating. I would double check all of your grounds, including the bulb sockets. Clean everything up with some sandpaper.

Check the continuity, from the contact points in the socket where the bulbs touch, to the wires coming out of the sockets. This will eliminate the possibility of a bad socket.

Nothing to do with that, unless you leave ALL of the wires disconnected.

You didn't say if your Brake lights work. Or say whether the bulbs are any good.

Is the Brake light fuse good?

I was gonna go with a turn signal switch, I had no brake lights/turn signals on my 73 when I got it, and thats all it was. My '70 had the same issue, but after checking grounds and fuses, they started up working fine. Now I kinda wonder if my '73 even needed the switch.

I had a similar problem that was blowing fuses.

I just disconnected all the tail lamps, and used the multimeter to put them back together.

It turned out I had a short.

My money is on the ground. As 4X4 Bart said, get a continuity testor. A cheap one from Harbor Freight will work fine. Check both connections in the socket, grounding each one. If both connections in the socekt show power when properly grounded, you need to look at the grounds for the socket. My 76 is grounded to the assembly itself. IF there is corrosion, paint or powdercoating, it can interfere with the ground.

Try a new flasher unit... classicfordman. Does the 4-ways act up as well?

I had the same problem with my 78 last year, the back turn signals would turn on, but not blink, and the 4 ways worked on the back, not the front. In my case it was the sockets, which I got new ones from Schucks that are made out of metal, and I think were $10-12 a piece, I'll post up the PN tomorrow.

I'm having the same problems

I just bought a 74 f 100 the hazard lights work all four flash. Turn off the hazards and try to turn on turn signal nothing happens. If the headlights are on and you try to turn signa onl a faded arrow comes up but nothing blinks. I'm going to try the ground connects.
