240 bellhousing

Is there a bellhousing for putting a toploader 4 spd with a 240 six? I currently have a t98 and I've heard they aren't very reliable.

I don't know where you heard the t98 isn't reliable. It's pretty solid 4 speed. Granted, 1st and reverse don't have synchonizers, but that does not effect the reliability of it. It got used in lots of jeeps and trucks. Its still considered a very good transmission. I am interested in hearing what makes it "unreliable".

T98 will not bolt to a 240 bell housing. Making it a moot question on reliability.

T98 was discontinued in 64. For 65 you received a T18 or NP435

Thanks guys I'm not much of a transmission guy and I don't know much other than what I've seen on this site and from other forums. Would mine be a t18 then? It's a 66

Im guessing it IS a T18 cause I have a 66 f250 with the 240 4 speed and mine is the T18 and Ive always heard that they are almost indestructable.

I did some research and it is in fact a t18. It is very similar to the earlier t98 so that's why I was confused. Would that be a good transmission for street use?

It is a granny low truck transmission basically a three speed as first is useless for normal non heavy load use. No power-shifts either

T-18 & T-98: Reverse is up-towards the dash / NP435: Reverse is down-towards the seat.

Thanks for the help guys. So should I keep the t18? Or look for a more "street" friendly 4 speed?
