I found a sales brochure for 66 Ford trucks last weekend. Didn't realize there was a Ranger option until now. Among other things the Ranger option included bucket seats. Does anyone know where I might find a pair of them? The ones in the brochure picture look suspiciously like bucket seats out of a 66 Mustang. Is that possible? If I could find the Mustang seats what kind of mounting brackets might I need? Thanks for any help.

The seats are easy to get but I have found a good console to be hard to find. However, the console was a separate option so you can be "correct" without it. A friend has the option and original brackets. He's going to let me copy them next time he has the seats out. If that happens I'll share the info here.

Harvey, I believe Ford used the Mustang seat. The friend I referred to got Mustang seats redone and, as well as I can remember, bolted them on.
John, I'm looking at the "'66 Pickups" brochure. It says: "Ranger Option adds bucket seat comfort, floor carpeting and fuel tank covering and, if you wish, convenient console between the seats." Actually, I'm not really sure this means what it appears to mean.

The buckets were available as the "base" Ranger package, the console (mustang type or falcon) was an option upgrade for this package. Kind of like the different camper special packages, each with a little more stuff. Interesting trivia wasa that the back tank cover was held in place by 5 screws along each side, as well as 8 accross the top (assembly manual). Bucket seats were held in place by 4 seat brackets, none of them interchangeable with the others. (f series)....
I have heard that early Bronco types are similar, but I don't think they would be, due to the different floor pan types. It looks like the brackets in the F series lined up with the crease/indentations on the floor pan. Small square plates were mounted under the floor on the bolts to keep them from tearing thru. My brackets were so rusty and damaged from being outside that I made my own. I had my seats redone using Falcon Sprint foam sets and seat cover sets without the Falcon embossing. Looks great, more comfortable that the flat Mustang foam.
There is a member either on this site or on slick 60s that is manufacturing and selling needed brackets to mount those buckets in your slick. I cant think of his handle right now maybe another member here or there will know. Good luck. Yup thought I was reading current posts then I looked at the dates it does go back a ways. You might want to use the search option under Ranger and see what comes up.
