I have a 1988 302 that has a brand new motor new belts, hoses, everything...but there is a squeak sometimes. It only squeaks on wet mornings. If it has rained alot that night it will make that noise for awhile after I drive it but it is not really wet out it will stop after a few miutes. What could this be? a pulley?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Dec-02 AT 08:52 PM (EST)]Belt tensioner. When you start it and it makes the noise spray it with wd-40, also spray idler pulley as that also could be a source of ypur noise. I had the same issue with my truck. It will eventually get to the point where it does it all the time.

Temporarily it will stop but it will come back eventually. Yes thats what is making your noise(whatever you spray and quiets) the tensioner most likely is the culprit. the tensioner is about 50 or 60 bucks from napa.
