Thanks for the feedback Tom. My last 2 diesels have been problematic and I am considering a gasser. I know I will miss the torque of the diesel but at least if I have a problem I should be able to find a tech that can work on it.
I also agree its a shame that the EPA has caused all these diesel issues. I havent researched how the other brands diesels are holding up in comparison but Ford definitely seems to be receiving the most damage to their reputation.
I like the term, it fits and describes the action to a T. I too have experienced this several times at low RPMs, but the other day I had the same thing while going down the freeway at 55 miles per hour.
I called the service manager at the local dealership and all he said was "I will check to see if there are any alerts". He has not gotten back to me as yet.
i am taking my 11 f-350, dually, cc, 4x4 to the dealership and have them check out the chudder and the tranny. the other day after driving 30+ miles and letting sit for about 4 hours, as it shifted from 2nd to 3rd it felt like a clutch slipping. first time it has done this. i have had the flash for the increase in hp and torque and whatever it did for the tray. i hope they have the flash to take care of this two problems. let you know how it comes out when i get it back.
Adding my F-250 2011 Diesel to the Chutter list. I got it last Fall and felt/heard this odd thumping at the same 40-45 mph....but couldn't see a consistent pattern . When mentioned to the dealer tech, got a blank look ...." hadn't heard anything like that ". Either it hasn't happened as much lately....or like living next to a train....I've gotten used to it and " don't hear it any more " ?? Happy to say....so far....no negative issues....at least that I know about !
