My dad had this same issue with his 06. He went by the dealer and got his computer flashed with the latest program. Problem fixed.

It is uncommon for glow plugs to fail, but they certainly do fail occasionally.

A FICM can produce 48V and still be bad.

Updated processor flash has helped some folks w/ your symptoms. Get the codes read. If stiction related, try Rev-X.

I believe a flash is around a hundred bucks.when my plugs weren't working due to a bad pass side batt connection it blew grey smoke like crazy and was real hard to start at 40'. You getting grey smoke?.

No smoke. And my truck wont run normal until its hotter then 70F

With no signs of smoke I think bimic's on the right track here.rev x is a fuel additive that reduces,and sometimes eliminates stiction.I have yet to find an auto parts store that carries it ,I think its an internet order deal.

The processor flash update didn't help. What about the glow plug relay?

If you are talking about the glow plug control module, that should throw a code, as should any bad glow plugs: p0671-p0678 for glow plugs 1-8. P0678 is usually the GPCM. I just started getting these codes - I had no trouble starting though.

My cold morning starts have been much better since I switched to 5W-40 oil and got the latest flash.
