Not sure were to post this,
I have a 2004 350 crew 6.0 (mfd 3/11 )
The front end seems to have a mind of its own.
Driving down the road it will be fine then I'll turn a corner and the truck will veer to the left then veer to the right, speed doesen't matter because didn't drive it over 10mph, I replaced the drag link and still has the same problem. I took it to local shop they checked the front end and told me everything looks good but that the track bar was broken at the axle. I took it home and welded it back together ( 7018 root pass, then cover pass, both sides) but it still has the same problem.
I need help any ideas?
Ok,
its been a few days now and the problem seemed to went a way now its back again. Does anyone have any ideas, I've raised the front and turned the wheels from sde to side but seen no movment out of the ordinary. I'm wondering if this could be a steering box issue ? Is there something electronic ?
I had lift kit put in mine. It veered right and left pretty bad. Sometimes I would turn the wheel but the truck wouldn't respond, and then all of a sudden it would and almost put me in the ditch more than once. Once it started to do the death wobble I took it in. I had the track bar replaced (twice). Last time, the local alignment shop replaced it. They tightened all the bolts back to spec, but then added a cheater bar and tightened the $#^@ out of them. This did the trick. Once a year or so I take it back in and they retighten as needed.

I dont hove a lift kit of any kind, why did you have to have the track bar replaced twice? and are there torque specs for the front end ? ?
I don't know much about this stuff, so don't know the spec, but there probably is a torque spec somewhere. After the lift, I noticed the issues. When the death wobble started, that's when I took to dealer. They said track bar ends were bad. Next time it happened, I took it to the alignment shop, since the dealer apparently couldn't fix it right. They checked it out and said the track bar was bad, there was too much play in the ends. Replaced it (again!) and I still had some issues. Took it back in, they put a cheater bar on it. I watched him do it, was kind of scared something would break. Anyway, drove it off, steering was nice and tight. I felt like I was in control again. and didn't have much trouble since. I am due for alignment now, and will likely have him get his big pipe out to tighten things up again when I'm there.
Suppertommy68, So does it still happen? and you replaced the track bar twice?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> so the first track bar was probably fine just not tightened enough ?<o></o>
<o></o>
Yeah I definately had to read it 2 or 3 times the first time I learned that because I couldn't believe it. Just tighten it as much as you possibly can, and then take it down to Ford or a heavy duty equipment shop and have them torque it to the proper value
My 06 was doing this, and it was the front axle u joints. The 06's were greasable so I put a pump in every day, and eventually loosened them up. I have had no problems for a year now. O now I know they are there I grease them every oil change. I would say your axle joints are going. My Guess!
