I've seen/heard numerous initial failures with them from several forums and the quality does not seem "as good" as the stockers therefore I won't recommend them to anyone, especially when there are lots of very high horsepower trucks running with stock gaskets and no failures.
I will also add that if you only want to do the head gaskets once its a must that a good machine shop looks at them to make sure they are within the tolernace set by Ford. If the heads arent flat you will do that job time and time again until you get the heads flat or replace them if need be.
If someone would just post the specs. for the op so he knows what they are and how much is allowed to be machined before they need to be replaced.
Don't think negative Tyler. From what I've read you probably would have already experienced problems. They usually happen fairly quickly. They're not ALL bad or they couldn't keep producing and selling them. IMHO they're just "not as good" as stock gaskets but with the much cheaper price they will keep selling them. You may never have another minutes trouble. Like Sarge posted......it's all about how flat the heads are and IIRC you had yours checked out as good.
Can I ask how many miles you have on your 03? Just wondering cuz I have an 03 and hpop is the only thing I'm worried about having problems with. Thanks
That is something that isn't necessary to do. I haven't and I'm flowing enough fuel to get over 500HP on my DRW. I think that there are a lot of misconceptions about the EGR system and people have drawn conclusions that they shouldn't have with regard to if it's crap or not. Sure some were bad out of the box, but I'm talking about overall. Usually it was something else that caused the EGR system to go, be it the oil cooler getting clogged, or the owner using the truck exclusively as a grocery getter without doing any upkeep on the truck with regard to carbon buildup(if they were being used as they were designed to be used then more then likely it wouldn't have happened).
Since you're going to buy the factory head gaskets anyway you should be able to save yourself several hundred dollars: EGR delete kit from RCD for < $200, Studs from browns diesel for $400, Oil cooler replacement kit < $350, turbo gasket set < $12. LOTS of what you're buying with the MKM kit is unnecessary or reusable OR comes in the upper gasket set from Ford which includes headgaskets, etc. You might also talk to or email partsguyed.com and save significant coin.
I also use the Dash Daq and its great, but the 2 key items it wont monitor without widgets is fuel pressure and EGT's. It pretty much covers everyting else but its twice as much as a scan guage. So I would get the guags the op is getting and the scan guage as well.
Dont forget the trans temp guage too, its real important if you tow, also ECCT and EOT are good to keep an eye on as well. All of these I believe the scan guage can keep an eye on.

my truck is a king ranch. it has the trans temp in cluster but i know its not best option.
And the Edge attitude cts with juice is the other path i thought but i cant figure out what it all monitors.
they say it monitors 12 variables but doesnt tell you them.
one could be the time so that means mabey 11 useful ones
