EOT vs. ECT after EGR delete

Getting ready to delete the EGR cooler and replace the oil cooler, aslo clean turbo while I'm in there. Should I expect a different EOT vs ECT spread when this is completed and are there going to be any new spreads to monitor oil cooler pulling?

Well.....not knowing what your original spread between ECT and EOT that's hard to answer, but they should be less than 15* different.

Right now I am running 8-10 on the spread but after the EGR cooler is gone I was wondering if the spread would change the acceptable range.

It has nothing to do with that spec.

Just curious, why are you replacing the oil cooler with a 8-10 degree spread? With the coolant filter it sounds like you have it under control...

I just replaced mine last week and went from 25+ degree spread down to 7-8 degrees.

I am puking from the de-gas bottle. I bought the truck with 136K on it and spoke with the previous owner. The truck was totally stock and in mint condition. I am hoping the motor is good and the EGR cooler is the problem. Since I am doing the Egr cooler delete I am also going ahead with the oil cooler as a buddy has a brand new OEM one cheap. At least I will know the status and hope the heads are good and the problem is resolved.

IMO, If your goin in that far I really recommend getting studs, new head gaskets, and have the heads checked before re-installing everything. You will hate yourself if you go to all that work and the head gaskets have let go. More than double the work for something that should have been checked earlier.

Fallguy- The problem is I don't have the cash to pull the motor and buy the studs at this time. I figured with the milage it was going to be due sooner or later and hope that it has just started to fail the cooler now and the heads are fine.

Get the test strips to check for exhaust gasses in the coolant.

The fill line is actually below the minimum mark. It might be puking because the coolant level is too high. Make sure you don't have it overfilled. Mine will puke until the coolant level is 1/2 inch below the minimum mark on the degas bottle. Once it gets down to that level no more puking...

I think I am at the "just in sight" level . I'll watch it a little closer while waiting for some parts
