In texas you can shoot some one for stealing your property. Move on south! If I'm going to be some where I'm worried about a break in I can use my sct to load a corupted file that causes the truck to not even try to start. It would take a theif with a roll back or a ford flash tool to get it running.
I just dropped mine off yesterday to get my door fixed after a break in. Over $1000 dollars for the damage not including what was taken out of the truck. I think a alarm coupled with train horns would be the most effective way to get noticed in a theft event
Well at 7:30pm mst tonight RCMP called me they have my truck in impound and are doing their thing on it.It appears that the truck was dumped at the Calgary international Airport and they stole another truck. Won't get to see it for a day or so more but sounds like there is of course damage and for sure sounds like all my tools are gone,cb anything that the losers could get five bucks for. So we will see in a day or so just how bad it is. When they took it it was a full tank of fuel, from where I live to the airport is 45 minutes the needle should not have moved,if she is deep south and an extra 500+/- kms on it, it just could go to insurance. Thanks to all for support on this thread and I will update as I still have to deal with Ford warranty so I will let you all know how this goes.If anybody has had to deal with Ford warranty after an their truck was recovered can you post the outcome or any information as to how things went.
Thanks GIGGER and all. Mixed feelings at the moment likely would not have bothered me to much if I bought the truck used but you buy new and it is part of you. I have more a** hours in that truck than I do on my couch so I know it well.
Reading the previous posts it seems to me that regardless of what we do to protect what we have earned, others will destroy if they can't have their way.I was not brought up to steal or have something that was not earned,I do find it very offensive to have some 2bit or less lazy piece of crap take something they are not entitled to have, have not earned through the process of an honest job, take or damage what is mine or anyone else's for that matter. As I think I said on my first post that we have struggled to keep the truck on through the recession, as it was a source of income prior to the recession and could be again when things come round ,And things were starting to look promising until this happened. This last 10 days has cost me money, cost me alot of time looking for all the receipts for my possessions and most of all when I needed it most, a potential job opportunity. What is the difference from 130 years ago when somebody stole a horse, a mans transportation of the day and now.130 years ago you got rough justice, hung form the rope, today you get food, clothing, all your medical,a warm place to live and a heck of lot more rights than the victim.Anyway we will move forward as things come.
Jerry, How much were you quoted to put a Ravelco in the truck?
Here's the reply I received.
"The cost for the Ravelco installed on your 2006 Ford F350 is $419.95. Having the device installed couldn't be easier, as our mobile technicians come to your home or workplace to perform the installation. There is no additional charge for our mobile service. The installation takes approximately 3-4 hours."
A lot more reasonable than I anticipated and they come to me. I'll be scheduling the install as soon as the motor work is completed.

If you lived in Michigan the police wouldn't bother checking it. After having 5 stolen you know they could care less.
Same as around here, it interferes with handing out seat belt tickets. Had some punks raid my shop a few years back and stole my cutoff saw, drill press, angle grinder and some tools, and the cops wouldn't even make the 20 mile drive out to check it out. Told me to come in and leave a discription of the stuff and they'd call me if it turned up. I didn't even bother. Should have told them some farmer was driving around with no seat belt on, it would have been lights flashing and sirens blaring as they raced out here.
Talked with a Ford rep today I believe I still have power train warranty left but the gist I got and not gospel sort of speak is that depending how much abuse the truck may have gone through it could very well determine the balance of warranty. To determine the balance of warranty they require the vin number which I am not ready to give as to confirm damages from the theft. I will have to ponder the pros and cons of this I guess. Not much different here in High River,RC's some days thick as flies, other days Zip. I made a few phone calls to the Calgary parking authority and left my plate number and also vin number with my contact info. I am leaning towards that call as finding it rather than the RCMP. They, I think were more interested in finding the guy that slashed 4 cruisers tires before swiping my truck. Anyway see how it goes from here now.
Finally got my truck out of the impound lot and brought out to the Ford dealership. A little under a half tank of fuel so my calculation is that it has 464 most likely hard kms on it. Took about 40 pictures just in case they are needed. They broke out the lock on the drivers door and mucked with the ignition for a no key start up, Passenger door handle totally ripped out. My cowl induction hood took a hit, and a minor front bumper scrap. My toolbox lid is toast. The interior came out not too bad real dirty, oily crap everywhere so will be a rough clean up. Only the drivers arm rest slashed I guess because my blanket was covering it ? They took the time to remove my CB radio and other accessories by unplugging them rather than cutting/ripping them out.I seemed fair not to bad in the tool area, a random guess is I may have most of them, things that I thought would be used in there crime spree I still have, some I don't. Tool inventory week end coming up. Started up pretty good did not hear any knocking and no delay or bangs in any gear. Now one thing I am looking into and have spoke to the Canadian distributor is Ravelco system. After some research I am leaning this way if we keep the truck or if a replacement is on the horizon. I have never heard of this system until now, but I guess better information now will save another round of hassle later. Anyway Ford is doing the inspection and we will see where it goes from there.
Well I was hoping you got it back & you did, I am happy for you.
So you're not going through ins to fix the damage or you are?
How far are you from a Ravelco dealer?
Hey Gigger, Ford is going to do the inspection on Monday and I will be there for it unless something changes. Based on what we see and their opinion I will decide to continue or not. Could feel a difference in it when I sat back behind the wheel but could just be that I had to pull my 94 F150 out of storage, two different rides. Insurance is hinting that they would rather see it restored,we keep it, rather than pay out. Either way I have lost some resale value. The Ravelco dealer is in northern BC about 12 hrs drive for me but I am in touch and will likely work something out. I understand that instructions to install are very well written and with some mechanical aptitude(few beers I can do anything) should or could be able to install myself.
I hope all goes well for you on moday, I dont know why it wouldn't.
I read that the Ravelco is not warranteed unless they install it.
For me there isn't any place near me in Canada...........
Come on down to Texas. We handle thieves on the spot when we can catch them. Since I have a carry License (easy to get here) I make sure when I move the .45 from the truck to inside and back to the truck it is in plain sight. Keeps most away so far.
Canada's gun laws are crazy, as if a criminal is going to register his guns, my license came up for renewal & the department sent my wife a letter to ask her if she was alright or in any danger.
Sorry I got off topic but this drives me crazy when I think about it...............
